Harry Punt’s dulcimer

Harry Punt’s dulcimer

This dulcimer has always struck me as a real beauty, with some superior gilt decoration and finely-made marquetry inlays in the soundholes.

Remarkably, these inlays are identical to those on another dulcimer about which we know very little except that it was owned by Frank Rice, who lived just a few miles north of Harry Punt.

See the page on soundhole design for a comparison of the two instruments.
