Billy Cooper’s dulcimer
No facts are known about the dulcimers which Billy Cooper owned, but he is known to have had several throughout his life, and to have had more than one at the same time. Rumour has it that he had one kept at the Eight Ringers in Hingham, tuned to the pub piano.
The dulcimerĀ below with butterfly decorations was owned by Billy Cooper and then his grandson Ray Keeler. It seems to be a different instrument to the one he is shown playing in photos from the early 1960s – as in the last photo here.
